Event 1572 after a hard shutdown, firewalls are all off.

Hi,

I'm building a multi-site sql cluster.  At this moment i have a three node cluster (will add more if i can get the cluster to behave).  All of the nodes are Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.  Two are vm's on Hyper-V at Site 1, the third is a vm on Esxi.

All three nodes have SQL Server 2012 installed and are up to current patch levels to SUS.

Validation is green with the exception of storage which is not going to be used.  Local windows firewalls are all off since that seems to be the only recognized solution to Event 1572 by Microsoft.  Site to site firewalls are showing no blockage between the servers.

I did a hard shutdown of one of the nodes (stress testing, my only other cluster experience was setting up an Exchange 2010 DAG which went flawlessly and is very stable).  Now the node won't become "Available", every 22 minutes it retries, I keep getting the 1572 event, no other warnings or errors in the event logs.

Node 'SQL64And' failed to join the cluster because it could not send and receive failure detection network messages with other cluster nodes. Please run the Validate a Configuration wizard to ensure network settings. Also verify the Windows Firewall 'Failover Clusters' rules.

An IPConfig /all indicated that the Microsoft Failover Cluster Virtual Adapter was missing a lot of settings, seemingly important things like DNS Servers...so, I applied this

 solution, basically

Find the sub key forMicrosoft Failover Cluster Virtual Adapter,

I had a DatalinkAddress, changed to 02-AA-BB-CC-DD-01

 which seems to have fixed that, still getting the 1572.

Any ideas?
