Dear All,
I’m having issues on Live Migration in Window server 2008R2 with Hyper-V Cluster,
There are 3 Hyper-V nodes as below.
Hyper-V Server Nodes
HP Server ML 380 G7 – Host 1 /Window Server 2008R2 Enterprise Edition/40 GB Ram.
HP Server ML 380 G7 – Host 2 /Window Server 2008R2 Enterprise Edition /40 GB Ram.
Dell Server PowerEdge R720 – Host 3 /Window Server 2008R2 Enterprise Edition /32 GB Ram.
Storage Nodes/ CSV
HP P4300 – 1 unit
Dell Equal logic – 1 unit
Problem:-
Before installing Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, live migration across the servers were successful. However, after upgrading the server to SP1, the live migration was not successful when being performed from Host 1 or Host 2 (both on HP) to Host 3 (Dell). In order to move the VM from Host 1 or Host 2 to Host 3 and vice versa successfully, we can only use Quick Migration. We can still perform live migration from Host 1 to Host 2 and vice versa.
Live Migration Result
HP Host 1 node live migration to Dell Host 3 failed (Migration attempt failed)
HP Host 1 node live migration to HP Host 2 successful
HP Host 2 node live migration to Dell Host 3 failed (Migration attempt failed)
HP Host 2 node live migration to HP Host 1 successful
Dell Host 3 node live migration to HP Host 1 successful
Dell Host 3 node live migration to HP Host 2 successful
Quick Migration Result
HP Host 1 node live migration to Dell Host 3 successful
HP Host 1 node live migration to HP Host 2 successful
HP Host 2 node live migration to Dell Host 3 successful
HP Host 2 node live migration to HP Host 1 successful
Dell Host 3 node live migration to HP Host 1 successful
Dell Host 3 node live migration to HP Host 2 successful
Processor compatibility is enabled and patch for this issuehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2592237has also been
Applied. Any idea what could be the cause of the issue?
Regard,
