When attempting to change the FSW path using the Configure Cluster Quorum Wizard I got the error " '\\host\share' is not a valid file share path."
Environment:
- Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008,
- CCR cluster, 2 mailbox server nodes,
- Rollup 6,
- FSW share currently on a Windows 2003 domain controller.
The existing FSW was configured with the physical host name and I want to change it to use a cname.
The above error happens even when just accepting the existing FSW path! Ie the one that is currently working! At least I have every reason to believe it is working as the service is operational and cluster.exe reports the FSW resource as being Online, and in the share are recently updated log files.
In case it was a permissions issue I tried giving Everyone-Full Control to the share (and NTFS), but I still get the same error. I also cannot move the FSW to a newly created share - they are all "not a valid file share path".
Now for my questions:
1. Has anyone seen this error? I can't find anything about it and have been unable to reproduce it in a lab.
2. What are the cluster.exe commands to change the path of the FSW? The help only tells you how to create a new FSW resource. I was not able to delete the existing FSW resource: "The cluster resource could not be deleted since it is a core resource".
NOTE: I have already posted this on the appropriate Exchange forum and just got RTFM, which is not really fair, seeing as I was following the FM when I ran into trouble. Also this seems to be a straight problem with being unable to move the FSW - and that is a clustering rather than an exchange issue.
Thanks,
Carol
