We have just installed 2 node 2012 R2 Scale-out file server using tiered storage spaces. We plan to use the storage for Hyper-V vms. Each SOFS node and each Hyper-V node have dual port Mellenox connect-x3 RDMA adapters that are dedicated for storage traffic. Lan Clients connect to VMs on the hype- v hosts thru another 10Gb team. With Multichannel enabled each Hyper-V node has 20Gb of throughput to the SOFS cluster. All of the storage nics (Sofs and hyper-v) are connected by through a Extreme 670 switch that supports DCB and PFC
My problem is that I am not sure if I still need to configure DCB/PFC on the Hyper-V,SOFS nodes and switch since I have a dedicated storage network or not. I have heard that configuring PFC is needed for stable operation of clustered storage spaces.
Right now I am getting a maximum of 800MB when copying large files. VMs sitting on SOFS cluster now seem to perform fine. Will configuring DCB/PFC improve performance in my scenario?
Thanks you for your time
