I've done several Windows failover clusters but we have always used identical hardware with identical specs and identical models. Now, we want to start mixing models as we add nodes to a current Hyper-V cluster. I'm just wondering how extreme you
can get with mixing models. It is likely that we will be using servers from the same vendor with similar specs but as you know, they will come with a different version of their line of Intel processors. Now, it's not like we're going to try to mix Intel with
AMD but I was wondering if there are any huge concerns or problems with what we're doing. I'm aware that we'll likely have to flip on the option to "Allow migration to a virtual machine host with a different processor version" and make sure that
the hardware has no issues communicating with our shared storage, etc... Just thought I'd ask those who've had more experience and see how much it is possible to get away with mixing models in clusters and to make sure that I'm not overlooking anything as
we proceed. Thank you in advance for your time!
