Server 2012 - CSV & RAID Advice

Ok, Dell VRTX server with 2 blades. Primary storage will be 10 x 600Gb 10k SAS drives.

Planning on running Hyper-V cluster to host primary file server, print server, SQL, Sharepoint etc for mid sized Company (70 users). None of them are particularly heavily utilised.

If I configure a RAID5 with hotspare, this gives capacity of 8 usable drives.

Is there any advantage to creating multiple CSV's? Its all the same drives and spindles, right?

From what I've read on-line, advice seems to be that you should create CSV for VM's and additional one(s) for data storage.

But surely there is an advantage in having 9 spindles with the data striped across them in terms of performance? rather than splitting the drives in to multiple RAID5 sets...

Any advice, suggestions, ideas gratefully appreciated :)
