Hi all, hope you will be able to help me with this.
Windows 2008 R2 failover cluster with 2 nodes.
I have 1x SAN disk that I have used to create 2 different partitions on with separate drive letters. These drives should be used for 2 SQL instances. Our SQL team therefore needs to have these 2 drives in separate cluster resource groups. When I add them to the cluster the cluster sees it as 1 cluster disk with 2 partions.
Is there anyway I can set this up so the cluster sees each partition as a separate disk, in order for me to add them to different resource groups?
From what i've read so far, the cluster works on a disk level and the only way to accomplish what is needed for SQL here is to go back to the SAN group and have them make 2x SAN disks visible instead of the one I have partioned. I was hoping there would be a simpler way to do this from within windows. I have been playing around with mountpoints instead of drive letters in the hopes this would fool the cluster, but no luck.
Hope the above makes some kind of sense.
Cheers,
