Building windows 2012 R2 file cluster with site redundancy

Hi Everyone

I am in the process of investigating Windows 2012 R2 file cluster

At the moment we have a 6 cluster nodes 2008 file cluster, each node has about 2-3 volumes spread across all 6 nodes

We mapped the share volumes to users desktops via GPO. Our environment is VMware.  All 6 nodes are Virtual Machine using RDM access to the storage directly with share quorum disk and share access to the volume between the nodes.

VMware does not provide HA and DRS for the file cluster node.  This is done on the application level to protect the volumes to ensure High Availability.

We have both Production and DR site using VMware SRM to fall over vms between the 2 sites.

I am keen to find out the best practice when implementing Windows 2012R2 file cluster especially with site failover. Production > DR

I am open minded even to suggesting using Hyper V

Please advise

Many thanks in advance
