Hi Guys,
We have a cluster group containing a large amount of file share resources residing in a two node Win2003 cluster. We want to eventually migrate all these resources to a new two node Win2008R2 cluster as a File Server.
I have attempted to do this by running the Cluster Migration Wizard. The Pre-migration report shows the cluster group with a green tick and can be migrated. I proceeded to continue with the wizard and it completes successfully (re-using old storage).
After running the wizard, I can see a new File Server resource in the offline state containing the name and ip resource from the old Win2003 Cluster. The next step was presenting the old storage and appeared all good. I also created a computer object in AD with permissions for the new Win2008 cluster computer object.
However, once I bring online the newly created File Server, I realised there are some shares not migrated even though it states that the missing shares are created in the successful migration wizard report. At this stage, I can access some of the hidden shares and data on the new cluster fine. I tried a failover and ran this scenario again with different test groups but not much luck.
Am I missing something? Should I be using the File Server Migration Tool?
Thanks
Regards,
Jun
