Is it possible to install the file server role on a SQL 2012 server which is already participating in a failover cluster, and deploy HA shares from it? Essentially, using a shared disk (SAN) and share it so the users can access via \\cluster name\sharename.
We don't want to deploy new file servers as the requirement is to only share out a 20GB volume. When we install the file server role, it stops the SQL services. On 2008 this was easy, we could deploy failover file shares as cluster resources. Is this no longer possible on 2012?
We do not want users pointing to \\servername\sharename as we lose HA on the share if the server goes down.
