SOFS or file server for gneral use

Hi all,

I am a little confused about a topic I am reading.

If I have a two node cluster, both nodes running windows server 2012 r2 and I want to create a new file server role. Can I. . .

- create the file server using for general use option

- OR does it need to be using the scale out file server option have read that if I create a file server for general use the wizard and report will show as complete but in actual fact the role will fail and not start.

Basically what I am asking is, can I cluster a file server for general use?
