Automatic Failover of Availability Group Issues

Good afternoon,

Wanted to raise this query. We have a WSFC used along with Availability groups and Failover Clusters. Currently we have an availability group used between 2 Failover Clusters. (Lets say Primary FCI, and Secondary FCI, which are based at different locations)

One the Primary Failover Cluster (Node 1,2), when there is a failover, the availability group automatically follows the FCI. For example if the instance failover occurs from Node 1 to 2, then the Availability Group also moves from 1 to 2 automatically.

The above I would expect to be normal behaviour. Recently we added an additional node into the WSFC(Same location as Primary FCI), and installed SQL so that the FCI could use the additonal node to failover. We noticed that when a failover does occur, the availability group doesn't automatically failover to the new node, stating its not listed as a possible owner. We can manually add this as an owner, then manually failover the Availability group. However these settings are not persistent (Also I believe we shoudlnt really be using Failover Cluster Manager to administer availability groups). When on the new node (Node 3), we can failover back to any node, and the availability group will failover automatically as well. Unfortunately this doesn't occur when trying to failover to the new Node.

Any assistance would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.
