I have a 3 host Hyper-V 2008 R2 cluster with iSCSI storage on the back end. There are 3 CSV volumes. Two of the volumes were created properly, but I need to rebuild the 3rd. I didn't have enough disk at the time and was forced to use RAID-5. I have been able to purchase more disk and would like to rebuild the volume RAID-10.
I can move the 5 VM's that occupy this 3rd volume to the other 2 using System Center VMM. Not a problem. I've done it before and it works great.
My question relates to this CSV. I am planning on shutting down all hosts and VM's for safety. At the storage level I am going to destroy the vdisk and recreate it RAID 10 and then carve out separate volumes for each VM. The volumes will always be presented to the hosts and I do not need to change anything related to iSCSI.
What happens to the this old 3rd CSV volume? Is there a removal process I need to use to remove it from Fail Over Manager prior to destroying it? Once I create these new volumes and present them to the hosts do I run the validation process again?
Thank you,
Phil
