I have a 2012R2 failover cluster running multiple VMs. All VHDx storage is on CSVs mounted via iSCSI. Lets say there are 8 VM roles being managed by the cluster. Is it ok to add a 9th role, File Server, to the cluster? I have seen a lot of conflicting reports on this. To be clear, the cluster's File Server role will not host any info related to the VMs in the cluster, but it may be used by the VMs applications to store information.
If this is not OK, is the easiest way to replicate the functionality to create a VM with the File Server Server Role enabled?
