NLB configuration file/registry path of a cluster? Malicious configuration after adding another host.

Hey guys,

we are running a NLB cluster on two Windows Server 2008 R2. Now we've tried to add another host to this cluster.

The new host is an Windows Server 2012 R2. (I know, that was a bad idea to try to mix the versions afterwards, because of incompatibility)

Nevertheless, we've added the host to the cluster and all applications, using the cluster, broke. So we've removed the host from the cluster, but there was no effect. We had to disable the second network adapter on the new host.

Is there a configuration file, where the third host is still configured? The host is not listed in the nlb manager of the cluster. But when enabling the adapter on the third host, the applications will broke again.

Another effect is, when trying to add the host again, the wizard (add host to existing cluster) will show both adapters of the server, but the adapter, which has to be chosen, has an empty name.

In my opinion, there has to be a configuration, where the third server is still configured. I made a search within the registry and below windows / system32. I couldn't find any entry with the dns name, ip address or adapter name ot the third host.

Thanks, David
