I have been reading a lot about the new Windows 2012 features, the SAS JBOD based storage options are very, very appealling!
All the reading I have done, finds that once a cluster has more than 2 hosts that the connections to the shared storage should be thru a SAS switch (2 switches for full redundancy). The problem is that the switches runs between $2000 to $3000, and I am a cheap SOB so I want to find options that don't involve a switch if possible.
I know that SAS is native switching fabric and that it is supposed to support a large number of hosts (initiators) and end-points/disks (targets).
So, I have been trying to finding out whether (with the correct SAS expanders) it is possible to share 2 JBOD enclosures between 4 hosts, without a SAS switch.
I am hoping that someone here could provide some insight/answers.
