Good Afternoon,
I have a 2 nodes Hyper-V 2012 R2 fail-over cluster. The cluster is connected to an external storage.
I need to determine the best storage scenarios for hosting the virtual machines C: drives [VHDX].
There are about 100 servers that will be migrated to the new cluster.
Option 1: Use multiple CSV volume to host all servers. 3-5 VHDX files per CSV volume.
Option 2: Use combination of CSV volumes for critical servers and cluster disk that is mapped to a drive letter to host the non critical servers and still make the virtual machine high available through the cluster. The VMs on the cluster disk [non CSV] would be running on one host only since the drive can be mapped to on host at a time.
Option 3: Use combination of CSV volumes for critical servers and mount point on cluster disk and create few mount points on the drive mapped volume to host 3-5 VMs [one VM per mount point].
I would like to keep everything simple. I am planning to add additional nodes to the cluster in the future.
Thank You for your reply.
