Default gateway IP address gets wiped from load balancer VM's when I create a cluster IP address

So I created 3 load balancers with Windows server 2008 R2 and installed the NLB software on all 3.

Then on the first LB VM I added the DNS names of the other 2 LB's and connected to them  - all seems fine.

Then I created a cluster of the 3 and gave it an IP address. (Not DHCP)

Now I cant ping LB2 or LB3 and when I go in via the VM admin console and look at the ip stack the default gateway is blank.

This has happened twice now.

What am I doing wrong.
