I have a problem with a two node hyper-v cluster (2008 R2) and access to the CSV after the cluster nodes have been turned off and after they comes back on-line they can’t access the CSV (when clicking on “C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1” it just says It can’t be accessed.
If I restart one node at the time (ie move guests first to the other node) there is no problem, but a couple a weeks ago there was a power failure because of a storm and then when everything started up again this problem was showing up. I can also “replicate” the problem by shutting down both nodes and then turn them back on then the same things happens. To get everything running I have to reset the storage controller cards in the SAN and then reboot the both nodes 1-2 times until the CSV are accessible from the nodes and the VM guests can be started.
But the “Witness disk/volume” are accessible from the node so it is not a total communication loss.
I thought I had found a hotfix for this (MPIO disk is removed unexpectedly when a PR_IN command fails,http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2718576) so I applied it to both nodes but still the same problem and now I have no clue what to try next.
Have contacted HP support to ask them but they did not have anything useful to say, except maybe add a startup delay when the server nodes are turned on so that the disk array for sure are fully initialize when the cluster services are started, so have added 60 sec delay in bios but that does not help either.
In the “normal” logs in the servers I can’t really find anything what is causing this.
Cluster configuration/hardware:
2 x HP ML 350 G6 – server 2008 R2 Enterprise with SP1
1 x HP P2000 SAS G3 with dual controller cards
Server communicate with the disk array via a “HP SC08e 6Gb SAS HBA” and both channels are connected to each controller on the P2000 array so it is a redundant system. ie MPIO is used.
Is there anyone that have any ideas what can cause this to happen and what to do about it ?
(ps. The cluster have been running without any other problem since January 2012)
