Windows 2008 R2 - is Quorum drive necessary?

I have a 2-node Windows 2008 R2 Failover cluster with only SQL Server installed.   I am not that familiar with failover but from what I've read it does not appear that a Quorum "disk" is really needed anymore as it was in previous failover models of Windows.   It looks to me that the cluser mode of node and disk majority which I have maintains the cluster configuration in the software on each node.   And, if I lose one of my 2 nodes I can even force the cluster to by starting the service on the available node.

Am I correct?   The reason I ask is because I have a shared Q disk on the SAN for Quorum and it is mapped to the primary node now.   When I test the failover using the traditional failover test....ie via the Failover Cluster Manager, the only disk that does not failover is the Q disk BUT I have read if I power down the primary node the Q drive/disk will failover.   On the other hand, I've also read that I don't really need a shared disk but could use a Quorum file. So, that is why I'm a bit confused.

Can someone help clear this up for me
