Hi folks,
I have read lots of threads, posts & stuff. Everyone says installing a AD DC / DNS & Failover Cluster on one 2012 machine is not a good idea.
Is it really impossible, even if the cluster is only there to handle two Virtual machines where the real magic will happen and that has no users login/data stuff to handle?
And what is it in detail that causes the problems? - performance? - timing? - sync issues? - Or just a recovery mayhem or what?
Maybe one of you has a great idea to my problem. I have two nice server here with lots of RAM & HD & a SAN in the middle. What we would like to have is a failover cluster with a virtual AD DC and a virtual Terminal Server for several applications. (Unfortunately due to proprietary software we can not use 2012 in the VMs, there we have to stick with 2008 R2.)
The idea is to set up a cluster via 2012 and handle the snapshots of the virtual machines as a kind of live backup of the virtual AD DC Server and virtual Terminal Server including this crappy peace of software. (This bloody peace of software needs a ackup
nerly every hour ... what a pain .. ). Ah, btw. Users we'll have about 75-100.
All the best ...
Marco
