public network partitioned after reboot

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with a 2-node Windows Server 2008 R2 failover cluster.

All cluster validation tests do not report any problems.

Symptoms:

-        McAfee version 4.5 has been installed

-        The witness disk and c:\windows\cluster have been excluded from scanning

-        The status of the Public Network becomes partitioned after failing over all resources from the active node to the passive node and then restarting the node that has become passive.

Steps to reproduce:

1)      Failover all resources to the passive node.

2)      Restart the node that has now become passive

After the node has rejoined the cluster, the status of the Public Network will become partitioned.

If you look at the details of the Public Network, the status will be “unreachable” on both nodes.

Steps to resolve:

1)      Stop the cluster service on the passive node.

The status Public Network on the active node will now be “Up”.

The status Public Network on the passive node will now be “Unavailable”

2)      Start the cluster service on the active node

The status of the Public Network on both nodes will now be “Up”.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jeroen
