Yesterday I got some cluster errors including a few source FailoverClustering, ID 1212 about the cluster name resource not able to be brought online. It also says an attempt to locate a writeable DC in domain\\servername.domain.local failed. What's odd is that the server name in the error is the hostname of a server that still exists but is now a member server that was demoted from being a DC some months ago.
There are no more errors today and the cluster and all VMs are working fine. I'm puzzled by the reference in the 1212 error to the demoted DC. There are 2 DCs which are working fine.
This error first appeared once on 7/10, then once on 8/1, then last night multiple times. Last night there were also a couple of 1228 Event IDs with error code 1311 in them.
I just now gave the cluster account add/delete computer objects permissions to the AD container that it and the network name resource are in. I wonder if that is what was causing the errors though it doesn't explain the reference to the demoted DC.
Any insights would be appreciated.
