Hello Everyone,
We have 2 HP ProLiant DL380 Gen 9 servers. I'm in the process of upgrading the servers from Server 2012 R2 Datacenter to Windows Server 2016 Datacenter. Each server has 20) 900 GB SAS drives and 4) 240 GB SSD SATA drives, 4) 1 GB nics and 2) 10GB nics. The 2) 10GB nics are used for backup and Live Migration respectively.
I want to take advantage of Storage Spaces Direct in Server 2016 and high availability clustering.
One of the servers already has 8 virtual machines on it, the other does not.
How do I go about creating a two node cluster if one of my nodes already has virtual machines on it?
I thought about making a current backup of all my vm's (we use Veeam), vacating the one node of all the vm's, creating the cluster, then populate the cluster with the vm's.
Will that work? What would be the best way to do this? Also, we have System Center Virtual Machine Manager and Configuration Manager 2016.
Thanks.
