Large amount of WRITE data causes 2k3 cluster to failover

All,

I have a 2 node Windows 2003 Server Failover Active/Passive cluster. We have 2 HP DL380 servers with 3Gb RAM, connected via 4Gbps Fiber channel HBA cards directly connected to a HP P2000 storage array. It is being used a File Server only.

I have been having problems recently with writing large amounts of data to the cluster. If i try to copy files larger than 2Gb over to my SAN, the cluster will start the file copy, and eventually fails. All my cluster resources go OFFLINE and then switch to the passive node.

I can repeat this with may types of backups, such as my overnight NTBACKUP, or Ghosting my other servers. This is preventing me from creating backups of all my servers (Ghost) and becoming disruptive to my users throughout the day.

This is a recent issue. I was able to perform server backups using GHOST in the past without causing the Cluster to failover.

There is no consistency to this issue. Sometimes i can write 2Gb of data, others i can write 10Gb - but it will eventually failover due to all the writes. Moving the same data to test servers work as expected.

I can READ all the data i want without causing the cluster to failover.

I have worked with HP on this issue, and they assure me its not the P2000 SAN causing this issue. And i agree, it seems to be Windows related.

I have recently updated EVERYTHING hardware/software/drivers/firmware for both the HP DL380 servers, and HP P2000 SAN. But this issue remains.

Im almost ready to put linux on these servers... And i HATE Linux.

Cluster logs simply show all my resources as going offline, and then being moved to the passive node. No real error/warn on why all my resources failed in the first place.

Can anyone offer any insite as to why my Cluster continuously fails over when WRITING large amounts of data?

TIA
