I have two physical Dell R720's with Windows 2012R2 Datacenter and a HyperV VM (SCVMM 2012R2) with Windows 2012R2 Enterprise.
I have been trying to get the SCVMM 2012 R2 wizard to build the cluster for me. I install the hosts with basic Windows, installed the Broadcom/Dell drivers for the NICs only and then use scripts built in Excel to configure the NICs as standard (to ensure the whole process is easily reproducable) and I believe they are correctly setup.
However, the SCVMM HyperV Cluster Wizard fails building during the cluster validation phase.
So I tried running cluster validation on the hosts manually - on each host, actually, and also on the SCVMM VM. The cluster Validation keeps crashing on all of them. I've narrowed it down to one single validation that appears to complete (it only just reaches 100% progress) right before the MMC console crashes. If I deselect the "Validate Network Communcation" test, the other validations are successful. I believe that this might be what is causing the SCVMM wizard to fail in building the cluster.
For some reason, Windows Update is not successfully pulling in updates these hosts (or the VM) so I am not sure if this is fixed in an update. Anything specific I should try (maybe a known update)?
It appears to be the exact same issue regardless of which machine it is run from.
